Tracking Internet Speed on PC/Mac

Instead, you can set an interval at which the website will then check your internet speed automatically. To make sure that you don't have to continuously go to your computer to check your internet speed, head to the https://testmy.net/auto website. On the main page, you'll see the AutoTest text at the top, click on it and it will lead you to the auto page so that you can set an interval and have the website get your internet speed automatically each time. This saves you from having to return and run the test manually.

Choose which kind of test you'd like to do. You can opt for testing your download rate, upload speed, or combined upload and download rates. To proceed, select the appropriate checkbox in the upper-left side of the screen.

Select the label for the equipment you are assessing (optional). From the Identifier drop-down, you may pick a label for the device being tested. Options available could include Laptop, Office, Bedroom, Game Room, etc.

Choose from the drop-down menu labeled Every how often you want to run a test - from a minimum of every 5 minutes to no more than once every 24 hours. If you set it to fewer than 10 minutes, the site will require you to register for an account. Note that any pop-up blockers must be turned off for the test to be able to refresh.

Choose the number of repetitions for the test in the Repeat up-to drop-down menu. The available options range from 5 (5x) to 50 (50x). Running the test multiple times over a longer duration yields more accurate results.
Step 6
You can use the Extra Options drop-down menus to set the minimum data size for download and uploads. The size ranges from 1 MB to 200 MB.
Step 7
Press the blue button at the bottom of the page to initiate the speed test process. The speeds of your download and upload will be represented with blue and orange colors respectively and their progression will be shown on the graph. Make sure to leave the window open until the test is complete. Note that your findings from the test won't be saved unless you log in to your account. If your test session will exceed one day, it's suggested that you create an account so any disconnection won't affect your test results. Terminate the test anytime you want by clicking End Test/Escape key at the top. To keep a record of your tests, click My Saved Results button at the bottom, then Export your data as a CVS file to open the results in Excel or Google Sheets.
Step 8
Once you have completed all tests, press the View Results button to display the minimum download speed, the median (average) speed, and the maximum download speed. The blue text will display the download speeds, and the orange text is for the upload speeds.
