Create an Avatar

Method 1:

Take a look at the surrounding community. It is a great way to find inspiration for your avatar; many people pick avatars that are connected to the community they post in. For example, if you are active in video game forums, why not choose a picture of your favorite video game character If you spend time on car forums, then select a photo of your preferred car make and model.

Take a glance at the forum name you picked out. Most forums will require you to craft a name not in use by anyone else, and many people will have an avatar which fits their username. This connection between username and avatar is created and people can identify who is posting just by looking. For example, if you chose a popular comic book hero, then the avatar can be an illustration of the hero. If HorseRider was the username, it would be suitable to use an image of a horse as the avatar.

Think of how you present yourself on the web. You tend to have a different personality online than you do in person. Take this into consideration when designing your digital representation. You avatar should portray your online character and represent you in that online space. For example, if you're known for a quirkiness, your avatar should be wacky and off-beat.
